Expert is a highly trained, artificial intelligence (AI) assistant designed to help organizations deliver efficient and effective HR and benefit support. Combining WTW’s deep intellectual capital with the power of AI, Expert is a one-stop shop for HR and benefit insights, efficiency, compliance and productivity.
What can Expert do?
Expert is designed to help HR and benefits professionals save time and be more productive in several ways. With Expert, you can:
- Query WTW’s vast human capital database and a comprehensive U.S. federal and state legislative and regulatory database to get answers and insights on a wide range of benefits and HR topics.
- Upload your own policy and plan documents, which then become searchable (by your team only).
- Use Expert to draft HR and benefit policy documents, HR and benefit communications and employee surveys.
What does Expert not do?
Expert doesn’t:
- Provide unethical or illegal advice
- Provide legal, financial, cyber or tax advice.
- Accept or process personal information

Yes. A great feature of Ask Expert is that you can add follow-up questions to refine the outputs. Expert remembers everything from your chat. So, for example, after seeing a response from Expert, you could ask:
- “Could you please give me more detail on the first paragraph of your response?”
- “Tell me more about the upcoming legislation you mentioned.”
- “Could you rewrite your response as a ten-point action plan?”
Can Expert refine the answers it gives?
Yes. Expert’s behavior and personality is designed to remember everything from your conversation, allowing you to ask follow-up questions or refer to previous parts of the conversation. Just like a normal conversation.
Once Expert has provided a response, you can give Expert more details to refine the response or ask Expert to shorten/lengthen the response.
Will Expert ask me questions?
Yes. If Expert feels it needs more information to give you a good answer, it will ask you follow-up questions. It may ask you several follow-up questions until it thinks it has enough information. Like a great consultant, Expert is just as curious.
Will Expert remember my answers from previous days?
Yes, you can save your conversations so you can return to them later. Click ‘Start a New Thread,’ and Expert saves your existing conversation and then starts a fresh conversation. Expert saves your latest five conversations.

The WTW human capital database contains 1,000s of documents on a huge range of topics, including HR and Benefit Strategy, Compliance & Regulation, HR and Benefit Technology & Analytics, Learning & Development, Employee Experience, Health Care, Benefits & Wellbeing.
The legislation and regulation database comprises summaries of all HR and Benefit US federal and state legislation. Our third-party resource has an in-house team of legal and subject matter experts who maintain and update the analysis on an almost daily basis to ensure its accuracy for your peace of mind. Remember though, this is not legal advice so please seek advice from your counsel.
What type of content is included in Expert?
Expert includes articles, business data presentations, HR and benefit best practice trend data, case studies, cheat sheets, employee tips, frameworks and models, best practice guides, internal training, legislative and regulatory updates, HR and benefit best practice research and reports; internal business presentations and placemats, HR and benefit communication templates, HR and benefit email templates, HR and benefit toolkits and whitepapers.
How often is the content in Expert updated?
- The WTW best practices and trends content is updated on a weekly basis to ensure it remains current and relevant.
- The legislative and regulatory content, from our partner Simplify Compliance, is updated daily, to ensure Expert has the most up to date legal and regulatory information.
Does Expert operate in multiple languages, and can it translate?
You can ask Expert questions in multiple languages, and Expert will reply in the same language. If Expert gives an answer in one language, you can ask it to repeat the response in any other language.
What technology is Expert built on?
Expert incorporates the latest in HR and benefit technology and generative AI from Microsoft’s OpenAI. It also features the world’s leading generative AI document writer. Expert is securely hosted in Azure Cloud, with servers in the Netherlands.
How does Expert ensure the security and privacy of our uploaded HR documents and prompts or inputs?
- We will store your data, including all client documents uploaded into Expert and all entries and responses in your conversations with Expert, will be held securely and will not be made available to anyone outside of your own team, other than a small number of the WTW product team who will have access to aggregate user data for the purposes of enhancing the product.
- Expert is a secure WTW web application hosted in Azure Cloud.
- No client data is shared with OpenAI or any public large language model such as Chat GPT.
Is our data shared with third parties?
- We use two leading technologies in Expert – Writer and OpenAI – and these systems only have access to your data to return responses and create documents.
- WTW’s development team will have access to user inputs in aggregate, only for the purposes of improving the product and fixing any issues.
Where is our data stored?
Your data is stored securely in the Azure cloud, in a data center in the Netherlands.
How is personal data anonymized or protected within the platform?
No personal data is processed within the application, other than name and email address for the purposes of login.
Who owns the data that we upload to Expert?
You own any content or data you enter into Expert.
What specific security measures are in place to protect our data from breaches or unauthorized access?
Client databases reside on encrypted server volumes (AES 256) and is logically segregated per client instance.
What due diligence is performed on third-party vendors?
WTW relies on different outsourced IT providers to manage and support selected portions of our IT environment. WTW requires that these suppliers and service providers follow our security standards and policies, and industry best practices. Our Security Function completes a security review process for each supplier providing outsourced IT services to WTW based on risk.
How is Expert different from other AI?

Yes, you can use Expert on a mobile phone, just as with any other web site. Expert doesn’t come as a mobile app.
Is Expert available as an app?
No, Expert isn’t available as an app.
Can I export results and documents from Expert?
Right now, you can copy the outputs from Expert and paste them externally. In the future we’ll build an export functionality into Expert.
